A great move forward for high-speed rail

Nu-Rock technology can be applied successfully for the manufacture of superior performing high speed railway sleepers. Developed and refined in conjunction with Wollongong University NSW, Nu-Rock high speed railway sleepers represent a great step forward for the rail sector, delivering stronger more durable sleepers in addition to meaningful time and cost savings for railway owner/operators.

The absence of any pre-stressed steel in the production process makes Nu-Rock high speed railway sleepers significantly easier and faster to manufacture. Importantly, by containing up to 95% recycled material, Nu-Rock high speed railway sleepers are a sustainable alternative to traditional concrete railway sleepers. By containing up to 35% shredded rubber tires, Nu-Rock high speed railway sleepers excel at absorbing vibration and considerably reducing the spread of the ballast under the track and sleepers.

Emissions free manufacturing

Nu-Rock‘s ‘Formulated Rock’ technology involves an emissions free manufacturing process. A vast improvement on the centuries-old, energy-hungry processes involving the quarrying, transporting and kiln burning of limestone at 1500°C. Plus, the quarrying and transporting of precious and finite natural resources such as sand and aggregates. Or energy hungry Clay based product manufacturing that involves a 7-day warming and drying process at 500°C followed by a 3-day firing process at 1050°C.
